Historical Fashion

I've been a historical fashion enthusiast for quite a while, even as a child I loved all the pretty dresses in the historical movies I'd watch. I desperately want to start doing historical costuming but my brain refuses to put sewing on its "approved seratonin activities" list. I'm just labeling all of this as historical fashion because I still can't decide where/when I want to focus! I started out wanting to only focus on 1950s and 60s... and then the Edwardian period, and then expanded that to include late Victorian. But, you know, I feel like I want to do at least ONE big ol' giant 1850s gown... also everyone doing Regency stuff makes it look so fun and gorgeous... oh but look at the Medieval period! And ooohhh, every era of 21st century offers something nice, I'd love to have some staple 70s outfits... and 40s... and 20s... oh no. I'm a mess and my wardrobe will be a mess too.

I think for this page I'm going to focus on fashion plates and museum pieces where I find ones I like. For the 21st century I'll also do catalogs and sewing patterns. Eventually different eras might get their own "what makes an outfit" pages where I talk about all the layers. Once I can get my brain to cooperate I might also start doing a little mini sewing blog too!
