I've just started quilting but I have a bunch of projects I want to do! I don't really know what I'm doing yet but I'm excited to learn.

I made this one for my mom for Christmas (2025) and it's my first time quilting. I think it *looks* like a first time project but I know my mom will like it. I learned a lot with this one! I realized I need to measure a lot more than I thought I did, and to not forget seam allowances for smaller pieces. This is half machine done and half hand done- overall I like the look of hand sewing more but the parts done on the machine were definitely faster! I was originally going to do the quilting part as diagonal lines on the machine in contrasting thread, but when I tried it I ended up thinking that it was too stark a contrast and also the straight lines kinda highlighted where some of my seams didn't match up on the intersections. So I ripped out the quilting lines and edging that I done on the machine and re-did everything by hand in dark green embroidery thread. In the future I think I'm going to try to commit to either all by hand or all by machine.
