Yes, I refer to my pets as my babies, although to be fair I try not to be That Person.
My baby boy, my sweet brat. He's my 1000 pound son- we even do super fun "like mother like son" things: we both have anxiety, we both have hip problems... the list goes on. Reno is 23 as of March 2025 and I've had him for 20 of those years- and for the first three he belonged to my mom's cousin. Reno is at that age where he's both "not *that* old" and also on senior feed, officially. Reno and I grew up together and he's my best boy. My grumpy old man and 1000 pound toddler all in one!
My girlie bird, my honey heart... she just turned 9 at the beginning of April 2025 and I have had her since she could fit in the palm of my hand. We're co-dependent on each other, we're each other's emotional support animal... or we would be, but we're both a mess. She's my Kitten Nurse who takes care of me when I'm not feeling well. She actually came from the barn where I keep Reno: there were three barn cats who all gave birth within a few days of each other... 17 kittens! And only two mamma cats were nursing, so there were a few kittens who weren't getting fed much. Candy was one of them, so as soon as she was weaned I took her home. She was a very sleepy kitten for a little bit but then she perked up and started yelling at me about everything! XD
Hannibal the Kittenbal. My Wretched Goblin. My Beast Creature. My Big Ol' Boy and Handsome Man. He's 6 years old and both the sweetest boy and an absolute menace. He's a Large Cat but also still very muscular... so when he decides it's cuddle time It Is Cuddle Time, and he'll shove his way onto my chest whether I'm ready for him or not. He still does baby-meows for breakfast but also he knows how doors work. He's ridiculously smart when he wants to be, it's almost a little scary. He knows when he's not supposed to do something, I'm convinced he understands the concept of "being a naughty creature" and I'm always telling him "don't even contemplate it" when I can see his little kitten brain working out something.
